HTTTC – Computer Science

Mission statement

The Department of Computer Science of  HTTTC Kumba, University of Buea is  committed to the training of computer  science teachers. Those teachers are  competent in their professional field and  capable of teaching in Cameroon  Secondary and High schools using the  Ministry of Secondary Education syllabi,  to the satisfaction of the Education  Community. As such our products should  be able to:

  • Think critically and strategically to solve the majority of education problems in their area of expertise;
  • Upgrade rapidly their knowledge, skills and attitudes in a changing and challenging environment;
  • Appraise the entire education systems in diverse contexts.

Options offered in the department

Computer Science Department has three options:

  1. Industrial Computing where studentswill bemore trained on programming, database management and process control..
  • Information Technology where students will be trained to specialize on E-Activities and software engineering.
  • Information and Communication Technology where students are trained to  become Monitor in Multi-Media Centers

Objectives of the programs

At the end of all cycles, computer science teachers should be able to:

  • Appropriately integrate technology into teaching practices
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate lessons incomputer science and related subjects in the secondary school, on the satisfaction of Ministry of Secondary Education school administration
  • Work as a team to improve and share all teaching techniques
  • Integrate into the co mm unity (collaborating with colleagues, respecting the reg ulatio n and governing the profession);
    Act as Information Technology solutions provider.

Admission Requirements

  • Option Industrial Computing
    Admission requirements: For entry into the first cycle, candidate should possess any of the following qualifications:
    GCE A level with at least two subjects (Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry);
    Baccalaureat C, D, E and TI;
    Baccalaureat technique (F2, F3);
    GCE A Level Technical.

Admission requirements: For entry into the second cycle, candidate should possess any of the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer science;
    Professional degree in computer science;

Option Information Technology Admission

  • requirements: For entry into the first cycle, candidate should possess any of the following qualifications:
  • GCE A level with at least two subjects (Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, ICT); Baccalaureat C, D, E and TI;
    Brevet de Technicien (MAV, MISE, MEM) ;
    Baccalaureat technique F2, F3;

Admission requirements: For entry into the second cycle, candidate should possess any of the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science;
    Professional degree in Computer Science;

Option Information and Communication Technology

  • Admission requirements: For entry into the second cycle, candidate should possess any of the following qualifications:
    Any Bachelor degree;
    Any Professional degree;

Diplomas Offered

The department offer one diploma per cycle:
❖ DIPET I for first cycle
❖ DIPET II for second cycle
Graduation requirements: For the award of DIPET I, students must complete University course requirements, core courses, complementary courses and professional courses amounting to at least 180 credits.
Graduation requirements: For the award of DIPET II, students must complete university course requirements, core courses, complementary courses and professional courses amounting to at least 120 credits.
